Aluminum alloy 2A12-T4 is a high-strength duralumin strengthened by solution treatment and natural aging (corresponding to 2024-T4). It offers high specific strength and good heat resistance, but has poor corrosion resistance and weldability, so anodizing, painting, or Alclad protection is required; it is mainly used for aerospace load-bearing structural components and rivets.

2A12-T4 is a type of hard aluminum. It has high strength, excellent toughness and fatigue resistance, and good machinability. It is suitable for aerospace components and equipment load-bearing structures under alternating load conditions. Mechanical connections are preferred.
