2WD RF development module based on the ESP32 C3 SOC
This project is aimed at students who are starting in the world of microcontrollers and digital electronics. With this training module, students can control RF cars, and miniature tanks, among other toy vehicles.
This training module controls up to 2 DC motors using any of the motor drivers available on the market. For the demonstration, I used the L298N driver which is quite easy to use and supports up to 3 amps at the output.
The module is powered by connector J1, which goes to a 3.3-volt regulator. It can also be powered by the USB C port, with which the microcontroller is programmed.
The outputs to control the motor drivers are based on transistors, so the GPIO of the ESP32 is not connected directly to the drivers, thereby ensuring that the output to the drivers is at the level of the power supply between 5 and 9 volts. The outputs for the drivers are on connectors J3 and J4.
The development module has a single LED that is controlled by GPIO 10 and an addressable RGB LED that is controlled by GPIO 8.
External sensors and actuators can be connected to connector J2 using GPIOs 0,1,2,3,20 and 21.
