### DESCRIPTION ( Introduce yourserlf and your project)

We are a student group and we work together with the Red Cross and a research group from the University of Sherbrooke led by Professor Alexis Lussier Desbiens. The goal is to build a drone to map and assess the damage following a cyclone in the New Zealand region. Since there are several small islands in this area of the Pacific Ocean, it becomes difficult to organize relief. Normally agencies providing assistance in these areas rely on satellite images, but these are available several days after the cyclone, since the latter is usually accompanied by cloud cover remaining in place for some time. A drone traveling from island to island will quickly assess the damage in order to direct the rescue service.

### TECHNICAL DETAILS (With project photos)

We want to adapt the electronic design of a Pixhawk which is an open source autopilot. We need to add a solar charging module and change some sensonrs to create a version that can be waterproofed. Indeed, the drone will land on the water to recharge, so the electonics will have an IP67 rating. Our PCB design thus contains three microcontrollers, a solar charging module and an inertial unit, among others. At the moment, our PCB design has 8 layers, 2 oz of copper per foot on surface layers, a thickness of 1.6 mm and the rest of the features are standard. We would also like to have stensils for both side as we plan to assemble those by ourselves. At this time, our first prototype has 4 PCBs with many connectors between them. Our goal is to join every circuits on one PCB.
