The "third hand"

The "third hand" holder is the collective name for devices that allow you to fix small parts in the desired position without hands. It is mainly used in soldering, jewelry, modeling and other areas where you have to work with small parts. In most cases, it consists of a base and one or more flexible "arms" (usually articulated, consisting of several arms) with a crocodile clip or tweezers installed at the end. Additionally, for working with especially small parts, it can be equipped with a magnifying glass, illumination and mini-hood (fan), and sometimes with a holder for a soldering iron. For larger parts, a clamp can be installed. In the vast majority of cases, it is made of metal. Can be installed at the workplace both stationary and without fixation.
