Northwestern Formula Racing, Electronics

Northwestern Formula Racing is an FSAE team comprised of students at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.  Every year we design, build, and race a formula style car, now built around a Yamaha R6 engine.  We compete every year at FSAE Michigan and Lincoln

Electronics on the car are broken into four primary products.  A wiring harness, custom data aquisition unit, power distribution module, and dashboard display.  The latter three being built around custom PCBs.

We redesigned our PDM this year to support a larger engine.  This is a power control module onwhich we impliment car wide kill switching with high side switches, local voltage regulation for logical components, and over current protection with fuses.

### Words to PCBWay

We started ordering PCBs from PCBWay a year ago after I, then electronics lead for my team used you for an academic class and you supplied high quality boards faster than even more local manufacturers.  We're looking to make that relationship more official and long term.  In exchange for sponsorship we will place an advertizing sticker promenently on our car anualy which we take to FSAE Michigan and Lincoln to compete with 125+ teams from around the world.

Pictured is our power distribution module which we had to re-design from scratch this year to support a new and larger engine.
